Devils Dominate Blackhawks with a Stellar Team Performance

Newark, NJ- The New Jersey Devils look to bring back a continued streak of wins after running rampant against the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the game 3-0 and ending with a shutout.

The goals were scored by Dougie Hamilton, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt, with Vitek Vanecek ending the night with 24 saves.

Although he was happy with the win, Head Coach Lindy Ruff said, “passing was good, but we left a lot of plays out there.”

Arvid Soderblom of the Blackhawks ended the game with 26 saves, but it wasn’t enough, as Chicago suffered their second consecutive 3-0 loss.

Scoring opened in the first period, as Jack Hughes carried the puck through the ice, passing 4 Chicago players, opening space for Dougie Hamilton, and finding him with a beautiful pass to set up the first goal.

The first period ended with Chicago outshooting the Devils 13-10, after trying to counter Hamilton’s goal.

The start of the second period was better for the Devils, doubling their lead five minutes into the second period from a slap shot finish from Nico Hischier, after having an initial shot saved by Soderblom. 10 minutes later, Jesper Bratt scored his 10th goal of the season from a power play, assisted by Jack Hughes after a great display of passing from the Devils.

The third period was a stalemate, with neither team finding the back of the net, with 13 total shots being let off during the last 20 minutes.

Jack Hughes added two assists to his tally of 16 before tonight. When Lindy Ruff was asked about how it’s been watching Hughes grow every game, all he could say was, “I have a great seat for it.”

The Chicago Blackhawks went 0 for 3 on power plays, whereas the Devils took advantage of one of the two they faced through Bratt’s goal in the second period.

The New Jersey Devils came away from this game with confidence, taking back their seat as the number one team in the NHL, and the third highest scoring team in the league. The Devils face the New York Islanders at home in their next game, a tough test for Ruff’s men.

In their next game, the Chicago Blackhawks host the Winnipeg Jets, who will go into the game 15-7.
