WPSC-FM Wins Marconi Award for College Radio Station of the Year

Brave New Radio is the proud winner of the 2021 Marconi Award for College Radio Station of the Year. This was our fourth nomination and second win for the Marconi Awards, dubbed the “Oscars” of radio. Brave New Radio was nominated in 2015 and 2017, with our first win back in 2018 for Non-Commercial Station of the Year and we have only worked to improve since then.

This was the first time the awards have been held since the pandemic began. WPSC-FM was against four other stations: WHRU-FM, Hofstra University; WMSC-FM, Montclair State University; WRRC-FM, Rider University; and WSOU-FM, Seton Hall University.

“Being the first station named College Radio Station of the Year since COVID is a huge honor and no small feat,” said our Program Director, Vont Leak. “It's definitely been a wild ride for college radio throughout the past year. However, Brave New Radio continued to do what it does best and thrive through the good times and bad. I'm extremely proud of my entire team for this prestigious award.”

The Marconi Awards are presented by the National Association of Broadcasters recognizing the excellence of individuals in radio and radio stations. Brave New Radio held a watch-party during the awards live-stream on November 10th and celebrated the win as a team.
